Position : Echo Sonographer

Status: Part-Time

Department: Diagnostic Imaging

Union Association: OPSEU

Salary: $36.85 to $51.77

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Cardiologist, Radiologist, and the Manager, and with coordination of the Charge Sonographer, the Echo Sonographer performs Echocardiography using ultrasound. The Technologist must be capable of performing technical procedures independently, using initiative and judgement to work safety and efficiently.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Must be registered with CMRTO
  • Postgraduate Cardiac Sonography diploma from an accredited school in Canada
  • RDCS registration in good standing with ARDMS or Sonography Canada
  • Core competencies in Echocardiography and Vascular procedures required
  • Must be proficient in adult studies and associated echo modalities
  • Minimum one year experience in Echocardiography

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must show evidence of clinical competence through continuing education
  • Demonstrated excellence in delivering patient care
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills with a well-developed customer service focus; dealing effectively with patients and physicians
  • Proficient computer skills required
  • Ability to research and develop policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff, physicians, patients and the general public
  • Availability to work a variety of day, evening and/or weekend shifts
  • Positive, outgoing attitude and ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Good attendance and availability required
