Position Purpose

As the Logistics and Customs Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our operations run smoothly. You'll be responsible for managing the logistics and customs documentation for our shipments, while maintaining great communication with our suppliers, customers, and team members. Your organizational skills will help keep our wheels turning and our products flowing to those who love them!

Key responsabilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers and vendors regarding freight movements of both our finished goods and incoming supplies
  • Create and manage all related freight/customs transactions such as customs entries, purchase orders, BOLs, etc
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers, vendors, 3PLs, vendors and internal staff
  • Resolve concerns regarding our products and services
  • Create and monitor claims for damaged, lost and delayed freight
  • Create and manage customs documentation for both CBSA (inbound) and CBP (outbound), and interact with customs brokers
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems for all documentation to ensure audit compliance
  • Manage relationships and negotiate contracts (as needed) with customs brokers, trucking companies, 3PLs and couriers
  • Audit invoices from vendors and brokers against the agreements you made with them, ensuring promises are kept
  • Support customers service by answering calls and emails when required
  • Perform other related duties as required

A crucial part of this job is maintaining quality standards of recordkeeping and interacting with the shipping manager and sales department to ensure throughput is as efficient as possible.

A positive attitude and physical fitness are critical to this role.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Experience in customs or trucking management required - ideally in a food related industry
  • Completed post-secondary diploma or degree
  • Ability to pass all skill assessments including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including (but not limited to) word, excel, outlook, and teams
  • Ability to pass background checks
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Demonstrated passion for excellence
  • Strong decision making and analytic thinking abilities
  • Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Meet all attendance and dependability requirements
  • Team player
  • Occasional on-call activities will be required for mission critical movements
  • Familiarity with SAP Business One or another large ERP solution is an asset
