Position Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for and oversees all day-to-day production activities on their assigned shift. Key responsibilities include overseeing the planning, organization and control of production activities, facilities and equipment to ensure the safe, efficient production of high-quality goods at or below standard cost, while ensuring all production timelines are met. The role will work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Ensures all safety rules and procedures are being followed, identifies any safety concerns and gets other stakeholders involved as required to ensure resolution.
  • Working with appropriate stakeholders, ensures that production schedules are followed and delivery timelines are met or exceeded.
  • Ensures all materials and components required for orders are in place and ready for production.
  • Identifies any bottlenecks or problems that will inhibit efficient production and works with various stakeholders as required to ensure resolution.
  • Utilizing stakeholder feedback and input, implements continuous improvement initiatives and strategies to optimize production processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Manages human and material resources to meet or exceed production targets.
  • Works with stakeholders as required in regards to equipment needs/challenges, sanitation needs/challenges, maintenance needs/challenges with the goal of efficient production.
  • Ensures efficient communication and coordination between relevant departments, including quality control, production planning, production scheduling, logistics, maintenance, human resources and management.
  • Facilitates training and cross-training initiatives for staff.
  • Working closely with the Plant Manager and the Quality department, establishes and maintains effective quality control programs to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensures that all production activities adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' leadership experience within a manufacturing facility, with a preference for experience working in a food manufacturing facility, specifically, experience working within liquid and dry packaging functions.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Must have strong computer skills, with the ability to learn and effectively utilize various software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of different personalities and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of different stakeholders.
