The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) focuses on aligning HR strategies with business goals while also fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Leading a team of two, the HRBP oversees employee relations, addresses concerns, and manages the talent life cycle, including recruitment, development to succession planning. The role also oversees performance management, training and development, employee engagement and the volunteer program.

Leading a team of two, the HRBP oversees employee relations, addresses concerns, and manages the talent life cycle, including recruitment, development to succession planning. The role also oversees performance management, training and development, employee engagement and the volunteer program.
Under the direction of the Manager, Corporate Services, the HRBP is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Strategic HR Partnership
- Support the development of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with overall business strategy.
- Work with the Business Services Specialist to analyze the workforce metrics and trends to inform decision making and enhance overall HR effectiveness.
- Maintains organizational guidelines by preparing, updating, communicating, human resource policies and procedures.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and provincial requirements
- Serving as the primary contact for employee concerns, ensuring timely and confidential resolutions.
- Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
- Manage the full employment life cycle, from recruitment to career development.
- Design and implement talent development initiatives aligned with organizational goals, develop and maintain succession plans for key roles and monitor effectiveness of talent management strategies.
- Oversee the performance management process and system, establishing clear expectations and evaluations process.
- Address underperformance through tailored improvement plans and continuous monitoring.
- Track and approve employee training, progress, maintain records, and assist in identifying training needs.
- Promote a healthy, inclusive and accessible workplace through wellness initiatives and support for employees' mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
- Oversee employee benefits like health and dental insurance, retirement plans, leave management and perks.
- Lead programs for employee engagement, recognition, and rewards.
- Over the management of work-related (WCB) and non-work related (STD & LTD) claims
- Manage the HRIS and Volunteer Databases.
- Provide regular HR reports to Management and as requested
- Provide basic HR Administration duties
- Support the Workforce Coordinator with the Volunteer Program
- Oversee the Volunteer Program planning and strategy.

- 3-4 years of progressive human resources experience
- 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in Human Resources is an asset
- A certificate or diploma in human resources management preferred, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A CPHR designation is not required but will be considered an asset
- Investigations training considered an asset
- Experience in compensation planning consider an asset
- Experience in a union environment considered an asset
- Experience in benefits planning and management an asset
- Experience using HRIS Software, and an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, etc)
