Job Description

We are currently hiring for a Hardware Engineering Developer to join our Operations team. You will join a busy operational team supporting both development & production of various families of products. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, ensuring alignment and driving ownership in the defining, developing, deploying and supporting of industry leading Test Strategies and Automated Test Equipment.

In addition to applying their hardware design knowledge, the successful candidate, will have the opportunity to work in software engineering, system engineering and project management, in order to support the full range of production test responsibilities. You will work on the Product Test Strategy which defines the production test flow and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) to meet volume, quality, technology, and cost objectives.

You will act as technical support on resolution of test process, test equipment design and product performance issues adversely impacting quality, cost or delivery targets. You will provide the necessary technical training to production personnel in the operation of test equipment and associated procedures.

  • Developing and optimizing test methods and processes to facilitate the manufacturing of quality products at minimum cost.
  • Support test system design in varied product test requirements
  • Providing engineering support for ESS (Environmental Stress Screening) development and commissioning.
  • Designing/Developing/Selecting Test equipment configurations for efficient production.
  • Attend test & product design reviews with external customers.
  • Working closely with product engineering teams in the analysis and reporting of the testability of new designs; recommending product design changes to accommodate optimal component, sub-assembly and unit level test strategies.
  • Driving the continuous improvement of production test yields through analysis of unit production data, by making recommendations for alteration either to the production processes, test methodology or unit design.
  • Providing project leadership and technical guidance to more junior personnel.
  • Contributing to strategic technology road maps
  • Defining project schedules in cooperation with project management and executing to the project plan.
  • Contributing to development of Test Engineering project budgets and monitoring performance to the approved budget.
  • Supporting maintenance and calibration of existing production test equipment.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • 6 + years relevant experience in engineering
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in development and implementation of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) hardware and/or software.
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative team environment, leading and coordinating various disciplines
  • Broad knowledge of engineering development frameworks, processes, requirements definition and management.
  • Strong analytical abilities, detail oriented.
  • Knowledge and experience with Design for Test (DFT) methodologies and requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Assets

  • Experience in test automation
  • Experience in development of mechanical drawings
  • Project management skills, ideally MS Project
  • Experience and knowledge in control software development using one or more of the following languages: CVI, C++, C#, LabVIEW, VB, TestStand, JTAG
  • Knowledge and experience in Structural Test processes
  • Knowledge and experience in working with CCA (circuit card assembly) Contract Manufacturers during development and production
