Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the operations team from a technical and troubleshooting perspective. The role consists of analyzing process data, make recommendations and champion positive change in the process. The role also includes helping to spearhead problem solving, data interpretation, and Paper Mill production team interaction at all three Paper Mill sites. The incumbent will also provide technical support to the Operations group through process analysis, planning, optimization initiatives and be based out of the Scarborough location.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, recommend, and champion process improvements at the Mills
  • Embedding themselves in operations
  • The role focuses on large scale initiatives, and the incumbent will be a technical consultant, and have a get it done attitude
  • Interact with Paper Mill production, maintenance and E&I teams at floor level on a daily basis to facilitate process improvements, quality initiatives, and other joint projects within the Paper Mill division
  • Development and training of SOP's, support to operations to promote consistency between shifts
  • Work with the other members of the Continuous Improvement team to help push key projects forward
  • Focus on key issues and do a root cause analysis and action plan and follow to fruition
  • Backfill engineering support onsite when the site engineers are either on vacation or ill

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have an engineering degree from a recognized university with a focus on mechanical, chemical and industrial engineering or relevant field
  • Candidates with 5 years or more of experience as an engineer is an asset
  • Candidates with engineering management experience is an asset
  • Experience with control systems,
  • Paper Mill experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Access, Power BI, PI Vision, DCS/PLC systems and AutoCAD
  • Individuals must have excellent written and oral communication
