As the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will develop, lead and implement initiatives that position and promote Southpointe Academy as a leading independent school of choice for teachers and families. You bring a strong vision, a successful track record in brand marketing and an effective, collaborative leadership style to elevate the profile of Southpointe.

About Southpointe Academy

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Southpointe Academy is a vibrant, innovative private K-12 school in Tsawwassen, BC. It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum World School that offers its students and families a caring, community-centered environment.

About the role

This is a full-time leadership position that requires working 5 days a week at Southpointe Academy's campus in Tsawwassen, BC. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, leading and implementing new ideas to elevate the school's profile and brand.
  • Expanding Southpointe's brand awareness through various print and digital media channels, both paid and organic.
  • Advising on and implementing marketing and communications campaigns in collaboration with and support of Admissions, Advancement, Alumni Relations, Human Resources and Education programs and initiatives.
  • Leading a website refresh to improve user journeys.
  • Identifying and implementing new opportunities to support internal brand advocacy and generate referrals from the school's current parent community.
  • Creating and overseeing the development of all digital communications (e.g. social media, digital signage, email newsletters, etc.).
  • Creating content that supports new teacher recruitment both locally and internationally.
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring one direct report.
  • Engaging, vetting and overseeing external contractors and consultants for various projects.
  • Acting as the internal brand steward and advisor to ensure that all public-facing initiatives and content are highly professional and align with the brand.
  • Curating stories that embody the school's values and inspire Southpointe's core audiences.
  • Overseeing the creation of key printed materials (e.g. yearbook, posters, annual reports, etc.), ensuring the content and images positively reflect the school and its values.

The annual salary range is $115,000 - $125,000 plus a generous vacation and benefits package, which includes 5 weeks' vacation, a subsidized hot lunch program, professional development opportunities across North America, and an RRSP matching program.

About you

  • 7+ years of related marketing and communications experience.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline.
  • Professional or personal experience in education or working with children, especially with independent schools, is an asset.
  • Proven track record of successful brand marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, influence and collaboration skills, built from experience working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.
  • A visionary, innovative thinker who can confidently pitch and proactively implement new ideas.
  • An eye for design and deep understanding of appealing brands from messaging, marketing and aesthetic perspectives.
  • Proven ability to thrive working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, able to take initiative and self-manages at a high level.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A positive, growth mindset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity and the importance of an inclusive community.
  • Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive/confidential matters and in representing an employer publicly and privately in all domains.
