About the role:
Clutch is looking for a Senior Manager of People Operations to join the growing People Operations team! At Clutch, you have the opportunity to work in an environment in which People Operations has a seat at the table and the business truly values strategic human resources partnership and results. You are hungry to develop yourself as a well-rounded HR professional and understand the diverse demands of this particular function in a start-up setting. You are passionate about the entire employee experience from recruiting, onboarding, development, and offboarding; you have a high standard for your work with an eye for detail and best practices without sacrificing speed; and most of all, you believe in data-driven HR decisions and are able to pivot and come up with solutions based on garnered insights.
You will touch upon all foundational areas of HR from talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development, engagement and retention, workforce planning, HR compliance, workplace safety, and payroll administration, but you will also be given the exciting opportunity to zoom out to re-examine, formalize, and build Clutch's HR practices from scratch.
What you'll do:
- This role is 100% on-site at our Etobicoke production facility as we transition to our new Mississauga facility
- Partner with senior leadership and the production team to design and implement full-cycle People (HR) programs, including onboarding, performance management, organizational design, compensation and benefits, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and offboarding, ensuring alignment with Clutch's operational and strategic goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to supervisors and managers by providing guidance on performance management, employee relations, health and safety, and team dynamics to cultivate a productive, engaged, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Own and drive critical People (HR) metrics, such as employee engagement, regrettable turnover, absenteeism, and health and safety performance, leveraging insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Lead health and safety compliance efforts, including the Joint Health and Safety Committee, employee training and education, incident investigations, return-to-work programs, and liaising with legislative bodies (e.g., Ministry of Labour and WSIB/WCB). Ensure a proactive and compliant approach to workplace health and safety.
- Collaborate with Clutch's management and cross-functional teams to align People (HR) strategies with broader business objectives, acting as a key partner in driving operational excellence and employee satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and programs, championing innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience.
- Mentor and coach managers to develop their leadership capabilities and support the growth of high-performing teams.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience with a minimum of 6+ years as a People and Culture (HR) Business Partner or People and Culture (HR) Manager. Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution industries is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex change management initiatives, including organizational design/structure, development and implementation of innovative People (HR) programs, and driving continuous improvement in People (HR) processes to support business goals.
- Deep knowledge of provincial health and safety, employment, and human rights legislation, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance while fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and adhere to ethical conduct in all aspects of employee relations, particularly in managing a diverse and dynamic workforce.
- Proficient in balancing strategic vision with operational excellence, with exceptional prioritization, time management, and organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships at all levels, inspires trust, and influences positive outcomes across the organization.
Why you'll love it at Clutch:
- Autonomy & ownership -- create your own path, and own your work
- Competitive compensation and equity incentives!
- Generous time off program
- Health & dental benefits
