HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC / HET

Firma Contracting is an underground utility contractor currently working on underground rehab / replacement projects located in Edmonton. We have an exciting opportunity to work with our project management team as a Heavy Duty Mechanic / HET. This position is based in Edmonton.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Repairs on construction equipment in the shop and on site as needed
• Regular mechanical maintenance and servicing
• Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
• Trouble shooting and investigating
• Sourcing parts
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications
• Providing input with equipment purchases
• Completing documentation for preventative maintenance
• Follow HSE program and documentation requirements.

Requirements:

• 4th year Apprentice or Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or HET
• Or equivalent experience with references to back up experience
• Class 5 Driver's License with Air Brakes and clean Driver's Abstract
• A minimum of 3 years experience working on heavy construction equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting and technical skills
• Superior mechanical aptitude
• Shop and/or field work experience
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
• The ability to lift and manage 50 pounds without assistance
