About Us: Closer to Home Community Services (CTH) is a non-profit organization located in Southern Alberta since 1995. CTH provides a wide range of services designed to meet the unique needs of children, youth and families.
About the Position: In this full-time salaried position, the Foster Care Coordinator will work closely with the Manager and Clinician to:
- Oversee and coordinate program operations
- provide Foster Caregiver supervision, training, development, support; and actively facilitate the recruitment, assessment, and onboarding of potential Foster Caregivers in Southern Alberta as their caseloads build
- Provide support to Foster Caregivers by developing and facilitating the implementation of service plans, providing hands-on training and coaching, conducting performance evaluations
- Supporting and/or arranging for respite or relief when needed
- Supporting administrative practices, documentation, and requirements
- Being accountable for treatment implementation for all children and youth on their caseload.
- Focusing on family, cultural and community connections and inclusion for all children, youth and families
- Supporting all CTH programs as needed
To ensure timely and effective support for Foster Caregivers and children/youth, preference will be given to candidates who live in Southern Alberta.

About You: You are a self starter who possesses exceptional verbal and written communication skills and has the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to people of all ages. You are extremely detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively manage multiple priorities at one time. You are able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with children and youth, and their families as well as with Children and Family Services, other treatment team members, community agencies, and resources. You are a compassionate individual with a trauma-informed, positive and empathetic approach who understands how to set appropriate professional boundaries. You have experience with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds, are familiar with cultural and spiritual needs, and can incorporate these into planning for children and families. In addition, you are eager to learn and carry out the principles and philosophy of Closer to Home and the Teaching Family Model. Experience in the Teaching Family Model, Foster Care programs, and conducting SAFE Home Assessments are assets.
Qualifications:
- A diploma or degree in a related field and/or significant, related experience working with vulnerable children and families is required
- Must be willing to work a flexible work week, including evenings and weekends when needed
- Valid drivers license, reliable vehicle for work purposes, $2 Million vehicle liability insurance
- Drivers abstract required upon hire
- Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire.
