Our Next Intermediate Consultant - Water Resource Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Consultant to join our Water Stewardship team. This role will work to find innovative water management solutions for mine closure at all stages in the mine life for our clients. The role will work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop water balance models, design water management infrastructure and perform analyses to predict the performance of and interactions between mine waste storage facilities, mine site configurations, water management systems and the receiving environment.
Our next Intermediate Consultant Water Resource Engineer will have experience in water balance modelling, hydrology and hydraulics analyses, design and assessment of surface water infrastructure design, and solid communication and report writing skills. This position will be located in our offices in Saskatoon or Calgary, with remote options available in Vancouver and Montral.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Apply a fundamental understanding of principles and parameters that control performance of mine closure systems to develop conceptual models for communication to project teams, stakeholders, and clients.
- Develop site-wide surface water balance models.
- Design and assess surface water infrastructure.
- Perform climate, hydrology and hydraulics analyses.
- Contribute to the development of water quality models.
- Support and contribute to the set up of analytical and numerical analysis tools to complete detailed analysis to verify conceptual models of mine closure performance. Analysis could include climate, hydrologic or hydrotechnical interpretation.
- Provide guidance for the planning and execution of field investigations to address uncertainty in model parameter inputs.
- Complete technically proficient reports that meet project requirements.
- Provide support for proposals of varying complexity in technical expertise
- Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise.
- Foster and maintain client relationships.
Job Requirements
- Technical background in Environmental, Civil engineering or similar.
- Experience in Hydrology, Hydraulics, water infrastructure design, and water balance modelling.
- Experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GoldSim and other numerical modelling programs is considered an asset.
- Experience in developing water quality models is an asset
- Knowledge of regulations, codes and standards including relevant professional procedures and practices.
- Possess leadership skills and abilities including communication, accountability, honesty, empathy, creativity, responsibility, and flexibility.
- Experience and aptitude for multidisciplinary work and dynamic team environments.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills business and technical writing.
