We are currently looking for a Senior Site Superintendent – High Rise Residential (future opportunities) to join our Construction department situated in Toronto.
DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Site Superintendent – High Rise Residential (future opportunities) leads entire teams through field operations and execution of large & complex construction projects ranging up to an estimated value of $300M or an equivalent valued portion of a larger project. The Senior Site Superintendent is the onsite leader who coaches/mentors other Site Superintendents/field staff through organizing and coordinating all aspects of the construction project(s). Their focus is not only on the success of the project, but also on team growth and team development. The Senior Site Superintendent acts as a role model, leading, inspiring and promoting the team for a successful project.
This role is a supervisory / leadership role, where the Senior Site Superintendent leads a team through all aspects of planning, coordinating, and supervising the field operations / execution of a construction project while collaborating with internal / external parties. On larger, more complex projects the Senior Site Superintendent assists the more senior Site Superintendent(s) in all aspects of planning, coordinating and supervising the field operations / execution of a construction project / portions thereof.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School or equivalent, or related work experience in the construction field.
- DEC/Diploma / studying in Civil Engineering Technology preferred.
- Gold Seal – Superintendent / General Contracting certification preferred.
- NCSO certification preferred.
- 10+ years onsite progressive construction supervision work experience.
- Strong computer skills, advanced knowledge of MS Project and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Proficient in Procore.
Key Accountabilities:
- Project Responsibility: Plan, lead and document the execution of the project.
- Scheduling: Create and manage the schedule.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Health, safety and environment on the project.
- Cost Management: Manager general conditions and self-performed work.
- Risk Management: Foresee/identify risks and collaborate with senior team members for possible solutions and then delegate.
- People Development: Manage the field team and collaborate with the project team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordination of Work:
- Ensure that the work is performed in accordance with the contract documents and Broccolini's standards.
- Ensure that the site is constantly maintained in a clean and safe state.
- Collaborate with other Site Superintendents to respond to all onsite affairs.
- Schedule, prepare for and chair site related project meetings. Ensure meeting minutes are accurate and distributed to relevant parties.
- Review, coordinate and distribute contract documents.
- Collaborate with field staff and the project team to ensure that HSE, performance, productivity, financial and quality requirements are met.
- Ensure that nonconforming work is addressed, and that the highest level of quality control is maintained.
- Manage / monitor the status of scheduled work and communicate any impacts to the schedule to the project team.
- Develop and manage relationship with internal/external parties.
- Develop and manage MS Project schedule to determine priorities and meet milestones.
- Understand / ensure implementation of Provincial labour agreements and build relationships with unions / labour representatives.
- Employ superior knowledge of applicable regulations and procedures of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) on the project.
- Perform quarterly reviews for direct reports, participate and/or provide recommendations regarding salary/bonus reviews for direct reports.
- Quantify and confirm required materials to be ordered.
- Source equipment and materials necessary for onsite work via the logistics & purchasing team.
- Verify / document daily onsite worker count/hours, materials and rental equipment.
- Estimate, plan and organize GC labour. Verify daily timesheets. Report on/track material and equipment costs.
- Assign specific tasks / trades / portions of work to the field staff.
- Lead field aspects of the preconstruction process in collaboration with field operations/project team.
- Work with the Preconstruction, Estimation, Ownership and MEP teams, understand site constraints and conditions for planning / budget purposes.
- Manage/coordinate utility providers with the Ownership and MEP teams.
- Proactively manage potential problems, and schedule conflicts.
- Supervise, mentor and coach direct reports / project team.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to other team members.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Ensure implementation of Broccolini's HSE Program as well as site specific policies and procedures. Investigate near misses / occurrences & implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with the HSE Coordinator and the Site Superintendent(s) for any HSE questions and/or concerns.
- Oversee and / or conduct the orientation of new onsite workers as required.
- Verify that required inspections / safety talks / daily pre-job safety instructions are being adequately performed by the appropriate parties.
- Prepare for, attend, assist and lead safety talks/HSE meetings. Ensure appropriate actions are taken following the meetings.
- Coordinate and follow-up on HSE work permits.
- Attend and assist with inspections and any investigations required (MOL for Ontario; CNESST for Quebec).
Document Control:
- Ensure that all onsite records / documents are up to date daily.
- Oversee and document all onsite deliveries. Ensure packing slips are reviewed, signed, and returned to the office.
- Oversee the arrival, maintenance, and return of rental equipment.
- Ensure daily work reports are completed adequately each day.
- Review and coordinate shop drawings with other construction documents.
- Execute work in accordance with approved documents.
- Ensure regular photographic / video documentation of the project is completed and filed.
- Review and implement subtrade / prime contracts. Assist in the development of subtrade scopes of work.
- Oversee the completion of deficiency inspections and lists.
- Create and update site logistics / staging plans.
- Review subtrade billing applications when required.
- Review, assess and conclude work claims by subtrades with project team.
LEED / Carbon Neutral / Green Initiatives/ TGS:
- Ensure onsite LEED / Carbon Neutral / Green initiatives/ TGS are implemented in the field in accordance with the contract documents.
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Develop industry contacts/alliances and act as an ambassador for Broccolini.
- Participate in corporate/departmental initiatives.
- Be an active participant in business development
