Job Summary

The position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach/Lead Instructor with organizing the Basketball program of the assigned group.

The position assists with conducting practices, motivating players, and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques.

Essential Duties

1. Assists the Head Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the game.
2. Organizes and directs individuals with group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Head Coach.
3. Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the Head Coach informed of the athletic performance of players.
4. Assists with determining game strategy.
5. Assists the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions.
6. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
7. Models sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
8. Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the Head Coach.
9. Models' non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
10. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Program Director & other appropriate administrator.

Specifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)

2. Some experience as an assistant Basketball coach is preferred.

3. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

4. Must possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

5. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, administrators, parents, and players.

6. Vulnerable Sector Background Check - required upon hiring.
