Job description

Our client is a leading full-service law firm headquartered in Mississauga with multiple additional offices across the region. They are currently looking to add an entrepreneurial Lawyer with 3+ years experience in Bankruptcy and Insolvency matters.

Your new role

In this new role will involve exposure to financial reorganizations, debt restructurings, debtor and creditor rights, security enforcement, forbearance/standstill arrangements, receivership and related matters for financial institutions, court and privately appointed receivers, interim receivers and liquidators, landlords, suppliers, trustees in bankruptcy, corporate and individual borrowers, and other interested parties. You will Act on behalf of Monitors under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, and other stakeholders in dealing with these matters. Advising and representing Trustees in bankruptcy. You will work on large transactions in various stages of bankruptcy proceedings with an understanding of accounting and financial issues that affect restructuring transaction. Conducting Incorporations and reorganizations as needed.

What you will need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have minimum of 3 years' post-call experience, with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Bankruptcy proceedings, court and privately appointed receiverships, crisis management, debt collection and insolvency, receivership, and restructuring. You will also have strong teamwork skills, trustworthy, accountable, proactive and a positive work attitude. You also have confidence and legal acumen to do great work, and relish in the thrill and accomplishment of winning a case to better your client's causes. You have thorough knowledge of the Construction Act and other legislation. Thorough knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and other legislation.
