We are a young, fast-growing startup, headquartered in Zurich/Switzerland with a development office in Vienna/Austria and remote team members from around the world (incl. US, FR, UK, IN, MX, IE). At LocalStack, we're building world-class tooling to support highly efficient dev&test feedback loops for cloud application developers. Our core product is the LocalStack cloud emulator - a light-weight cloud sandbox running in Docker that allows our users to develop cloud applications entirely on their local machines.
LocalStack has a large and active open source community (55k+ stars on GitHub) with several 100k active users worldwide and 180M+ downloads to date. With a growing international customer base across Fortune Global 500 companies for our Pro and Enterprise offerings, as well as a growing, globally distributed team of top-notch engineers and GTM experts, we are on an exciting growth journey to become the world's leading platform for local cloud software development.
Requirements
As we continue to grow our customer base, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team.
As a Sales Engineer at LocalStack, you will play a pivotal role in our sales process, helping prospective customers understand how our platform can solve their technical challenges. You will work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders during the sales stages to demonstrate the value and ROI of our innovative cloud development platform and emulator solutions.
At its core, this is a highly technical role—you will interact with customers on a regular basis through various channels (Slack, emails, video calls), discuss their cloud development use cases, dive into their setup for local development, review and improve their Infrastructure as Code (IaC) configurations (e.g., Terraform, CDK, Pulumi), and help set up CI/CD pipelines to run automated tests using LocalStack.
A key responsibility is to understand and address technical objections from prospects, craft compelling proof of concepts (PoCs), and work collaboratively with the sales and engineering teams to drive deal closures. You will also gather valuable insights from prospects regarding their use cases, feeding back critical information to the product team for continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities
•Engage with potential customers to understand their technical requirements and use cases.
•Deliver technical product demos, presentations, and webinars that articulate our platform's value.
•Collaborate with sales teams to identify and qualify opportunities, providing technical expertise throughout the sales process.
•Build proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and technical solutions to address customer-specific needs.
•Provide technical answers to RFPs/RFIs and handle customer objections.
•Fine-tune Infrastructure as Code setups (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi) to demonstrate integration capabilities.
•Engage with the engineering team to escalate critical technical issues, define action plans, and ensure a timely resolution for prospective customer needs.
Qualifications
•Proven experience as a Sales Engineer or similar customer-facing role within the cloud services or software industry.
•Strong understanding of sales processes and methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to drive deal closures.
•Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Strong technical background with a solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies (strong AWS skills preferred).
•Experience collaborating with sales teams to qualify opportunities and strategize on deal approaches.
•Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent work experience.
•Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and customer-centric approach.
•Hands-on experience with IaC or application development frameworks like Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or Serverless framework is a plus.
•AWS Solution Architect Associate certification is a plus.
