The people we Support: We serve a remarkable community of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Since founding in 1987 as part of the Welcome Home program, we have been dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual disabilities as they transition from institutional settings to vibrant community living. We provide 24-hour support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, FASD, Mental Health challenges, problematic substance use, and behavioural and sensory challenges, ensuring each person receives the care, respect, and opportunities they deserve. We're committed to empowering individuals to thrive as valued members of their communities, celebrating their resilience and unique journeys every day.
Direct Support Worker: We seek compassionate individuals to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care and support
- Attending medical appointments
- Managing medication regimes
- Grocery Shopping
- Recreational Opportunities
- Meal preparation & Cooking
- Cleaning & maintaining the home
- Emotional Support
- Crisis Support
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- One year of full-time experience working with adults with an intellectual disability.
- Some post-secondary courses in the social services fields.
- Excellent workplace communication skills (written & verbal)
- Advocacy.
- Flexibility.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- ! Please be advised that applicants with a study permit limiting work to 20 hours per week may be considered for a casual Direct Support Worker position.
Additional Requirements:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector checked,
- Adult & Child Abuse Registry Check,
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
- Applicants must be highly collaborative and willing to be flexible in the workplace settings.
- Experience in providing personal care is an asset.
Preference may be given to Candidates who have the following:
- Experience working with Mental Health
- Experience working with Addictions.
- Experience working within the Justice System
- Experience working with people with Co-occurring disabilities.

Due to the ongoing growth of this department, applications may be used in the future for other part-time or future positions. Compensation & Benefits: The Direct Support Worker wage starts at $17.10 an hour.
