Engineers and Geoscientists BC is currently searching for a User Experience Designer to join our team in Burnaby on a 1-year contract!
The User Experience Designer, reporting to the Manager, Website and Digital Communications, provides expertise in the design, delivery, evaluation, and maintenance of leading-edge user experience strategies and online experiences for users of our website. This position is responsible for leading research, content design and strategy projects to meet the needs of our user groups.
In particular, this role will be focused on a large project to streamline and improve the user experience for international applicants, in line with the requirements of the new International Credentials Recognition Act. The UX Designer will work closely with our Registration department to assess the current state of applicants' user experience and make recommendations to improve web accessibility and fairness in the registration process. The User Experience Designer provides advice on the development of web content/user experience strategies, standards, and performance measures, and provides feedback to improve our website and digital platforms, with the goal of ensuring content and features are user-friendly and accessible.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Providing expertise in developing and executing online user experience/content strategy, ensuring incorporation of best practices in user experience.
- Developing processes and leading prototyping activities to define and test usability requirements, and ensuring that specifications and new features follow standards/best practices.
- Designing information architecture, wireframes, page templates and navigation, functional specifications; identifying opportunities for new functionality and connectivity.
- Working with the Registration, and Communications, and Information Systems teams to define performance measures for improvements to user experience for international applicants and developing a realistic plan to implement them, as related to the International Credentials Recognition Act project.
- Conducting engagement with industry groups and subject matter experts to determine and assess expectations and business needs.
- Providing feedback and recommendations on user experience through analysis of web analytics, visitor feedback, performance metrics, and other tools.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- Diploma, certificate, or equivalent in the study of user experience design is required.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in user experience design
- Knowledge of and skills in user experience/content design and strategy principles, methodologies and techniques, including accessibility, information architecture, web analytics, focus groups, and user testing.
- Knowledge of and skills in web accessibility standards, implementation and testing tools, and emerging trends.
- Experience with content management systems and related tools, design and wireframing tools (eg: Figma, Adobe XD), and web analytics software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; especially the ability to clearly and concisely present and communicate complex subject matter to non-technical audiences. Facilitation skills to lead consultations and present recommendations to leadership teams.
- Project management principles, methodologies, and best practices with experience leading concurrent projects.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $100,500 to $106,000.
