MISSION

The Youth Mental Health Therapist will provide therapy and counselling services to children, adolescents, and families with an emphasis on brief counselling modalities and strategies with the consent of the client, consulting, and coordinating with other service providers.

The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a compassionate and hands-on professional to fulfill the role of the Youth Mental Health Therapist.

PRIORITIES

  • Provide drop-in sessions to clients/families and provide Urgent/Crisis Services as required.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date clinical record and clinical statistics are gathered for the program and submitted as per the Centre's Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure effective time management and case management strategies are utilised such that services are delivered to clients in a manner appropriate to their needs which are consistent with the needs that new cases are opened within reasonable timelines, according to agency policy and procedure.
  • Provide clinical assistance to other members of the multidisciplinary team through active participation in weekly team meetings, possible sharing of provision of services to clients, and providing support and consultation to other staff within areas of identified personal expertise.
  • Participate in individual and agency staff development plans and activities to ensure that skills/knowledge are relevant, current, and appropriate to the assigned duties
  • Support and facilitate student placements to create a relevant learning experience for the student(s) and ensure that the needs of the agency as well as clients/families are not compromised.
  • Participate in internal and external committees and public relations/education activities of the agency, including but not limited, to staff meetings, inter-agency liaison committees, and public education activities such as speeches and presentations.

Requirements

TALENTS & EXPERTISE

  • BSW from a university of recognized standing or equivalent with relevant knowledge, experience, and ability.
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Social Worker or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of counselling experience working with children and families and psychotherapy experience utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Knowledge of early child development.
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying, case management principles and associated therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing skills; Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Persons check.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
  • Training in CPR, ASIST, and non-violent crisis intervention is required.
  • Ability to support multi-site locations, including evenings and weekends as may be required to provide accessible services for the children, youth, and families served.
