Job Overview
The Commercial Services Member Consultant is responsible for providing the knowledge and expertise needed to support our operations efficiently. This role will create new memberships and assist with commercial lending, cash management, reporting, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of memberships, accounts, and regulatory requirements.
Role
Operations:
•Open all Commercial Memberships for the Business Banking Group including creation - from initial member contact to document preparation and execution with the member
•Keep contact diary system up to date with relevant follow up action for Commercial Members
•Regular communication with Risk Department to ensure we are compliant with all new regulations
•Uncover, identify, and process sales opportunities primarily with Commercial Members, which may include non FSRA reporting, commercial lending and deposit products
•Actively solicit, follow up and provide advice on products and services to Commercial Members to increase share of wallet and ensure we are their primary financial institution of choice. Including processing third party referrals for ADP, MDB-Online banking, Global Payments and any other acquired service providers
•Direct interaction with our high value members, both virtually and in person, will be required to provide the highest service level
•Complete all Collabria VISA applications for all Commercial Members
•Facilitate paperwork and workflows for onboarding new services for new and existing Commercial members including MDB, PaymentStream
•Become familiar with the products, services, and people for third party vendors including: Collabria, C1, XE Foreign Exchange, ADP, Global Payments, and schedule recurring update calls
•Work primarily with Commercial Members to resolve inquiries and/or concerns
•Maintain ongoing activity plan to assist prioritizing sales, service, and operational work
•Key on new loans, new investments and accounts, to the banking system, as well as input all changes as required
•Assist with managing various portfolio reporting required for the Business Banking Group, including but not limited to: Loan delinquency, loan maturity, annual reviews
•Assist in preparing Funding Requests for new loans as well as draw requests for construction loans and lead the funding process for BBG
•Regular communication with the entire leadership group in BBG will be imperative to ensuring priorities are met, as our team is active and high achieving
•Ensure processes and standards meet and exceed requirements set out by legislation and regulators
•Manage applicable large depositor maturity schedules
•Prepare statements/bank confirmations as scheduled and as requested
•Facilitate wires and other fund transfers for Commercial Members
•Update membership changes such as signors as needed
•Stay in regular communication with other internal departments to facilitate activities to support Business Banking Group & Commercial members as needed, such as IMS (term department, wires, payment stream etc.)
•Monitor Bank of Canada changes and rate environment as it pertains to high value members, legal trust accounts etc.
•Understand estates and legal trusts administratively
•Maintain a list of special interest bearing treasury accounts for appropriate spreads
•Support the team of BBG Account Managers with general administrative support as required.
•Perform other duties as assigned
•Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well-being of the team and members
Required Skills and Qualifications:
•Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and some post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration or Economics
•3 - 5 years Commercial Services/ Credit Union/other Financial Institution experience
•Good working knowledge of business banking products and services
•Experience with commercial lending procedure and processes
•Experience in a compliance and regulatory environment is an asset
•Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Temenos Banking System and Criterion or equivalent banking and lending platforms is required
•Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills
•Inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and trustworthiness
•Must be able to work well with minimum supervision
•Ability to effectively problem solve to find creative and beneficial solutions
•Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
•Ability to share knowledge and best practices
•Must be capable of working as a team player, willing to assist other staff of any location
•Must have a positive attitude and willing to go above and beyond
•Maintain current knowledge of the Financial Service Industry and trends
•Be able to take action in difficult and challenging situations and deal with uncertainty
•Ability to identify and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and procedures
•Comfort in dealing with high value accounts and individuals
