The Position:

The Vice President of Impact & Innovation, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborating with the United Way Winnipeg (UWW) Executive Leadership Team, is responsible for creating and implementing strategies that foster community engagement and partnerships. This role focuses on addressing key social issues within the broader community through strategic collaboration. A key responsibility is the introduction of innovative technologies, research methods, and evaluation processes that enhance the effectiveness and visibility of UWW programs.

The Vice President, Impact & Innovation advises stakeholders and colleagues on program outcomes, ensuring continuous learning and improvement. Additionally, they spearhead UWWs collective impact strategy by coordinating stakeholder efforts towards achieving meaningful social change. By assessing programs and initiatives, they ensure alignment with UWWs strategic goals and imperatives. Finally, the Vice President is responsible for reporting progress on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities to both UWW stakeholders and the wider community, providing valuable insights into the organizations ongoing efforts to address critical social challenges.

Strategic Leadership & Innovation:

  • Lead strategic initiatives by developing and implementing plans aligned with UWWs strategic goals, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Foster innovation by championing new technologies, processes, and methodologies to enhance program design and responsiveness to community needs.
  • Optimize program effectiveness by collaborating on research, evaluations, and reviews, recommending improvements to ensure the achievement of deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to align program focus with organizational goals and drive systemic change.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Engage community stakeholders and partners to gather insights, aligning them with organizational objectives and programs.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships across government, non-profit, and private sectors to enhance UWWs mission delivery.
  • Provide leadership to advisory groups, driving collective impact and systems change efforts.
  • Anticipate political, social, and economic trends to influence policy, advocate for community needs, and drive innovative solutions.

Financial Stewardship, Sourcing & Management:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Leadership to develop the annual UWW budget, setting performance metrics to assess organizational results.
  • Provide strategic guidance on new funding opportunities and support grant design, while fostering sustained donor and partner relationships to secure financial support for key initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team, providing guidance and fostering a culture of excellence in executing responsibilities.
  • Identify and provide opportunities for professional development, enhancing team skills in program management and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Social Innovation, Public Health, Statistics, Community Development, Public Administration or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with 7+ years at the Senior Leadership Level.
  • Extensive experience in leading community impact initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships and driving innovation.
  • Expertise in research techniques and processes, evaluation design, impact reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, manage complex projects, and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
