Purpose of Position:
The Mechanical Designer/Engineer will play a key role in our design team, responsible for executing projects from the initial design phase through to construction completion. This role ensures adherence to OPM standards and codes, meets and exceeds client expectations while continuously improving project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

What We Offer:
- Competitive base salary of $110,000 to $130,000 CND per year D.O.E

Primary Responsibilities:
- Mentor, lead, and develop mechanical design professionals on various projects
- Conduct load calculations and design briefs for mechanical equipment sizing and selection
- Design HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems
- Collaborate with other disciplines on the project design team to integrate mechanical requirements
- Coordinate service requirements/connections with utility and/or municipal agencies
- Attend project progress meeting and provide updates to the assigned direct report.
- Prepare tender and construction documentation including specifications
- Conduct construction administration including shop drawings reviews, field reviews, site surveys and final inspections
- Assist in the development of training material, design workshops, presentations, and other educational resources for junior staff
- Provide technical support to the internal BIM clash detection team in resolving conflicts between different building services systems, the building structure, and the building architecture
- Provide technical support to OPM construction team and sub-trades for troubleshooting and time/cost-efficient installation process
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems (minimum 5 years within Canada)
- Professional Engineers (P.Eng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferred
- Knowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCSC, ASPE, NFPA and other applicable codes
- LEED® Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an asset
- Knowledge of American building services codes and standards (SMC, WSMC, CMC Title 24, UPC, etc.) is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, Procore, and Trace 700
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, landscaping, civil and electrical drawings with minimum supervision
- Proven English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to meet sensitive timelines
