Responsibilities:
- Assist people supported and team members in fulfilling the Vision and Mission of the Agency
- Follow ticketing system (Maintenance Care) to conduct maintenance tasks and perform minor maintenance repairs
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment and supplies
- Make adjustments and minor repairs to plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilating and electrical systems
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting, drywall repair, moving and assembling of furniture, changing lights, and other duties as assigned
- Ensure that the person(s) being supported's rights, preferences, confidentiality and privacy are respected and maintained in a dignified and safe manner
- Effectively communicate with person(s) being supported and support teams, other Rygiel staff, and other community businesses with which you deal
Job Requirements:
- Diploma/Certificate pertaining to building maintenance
- Relevant training and experience providing maintenance duties in a supportive home environment
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating & cooling systems, painting, wood working, etc.
- Able to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks
- Rygiel Driver requirements (Full G class license, clean driving record, approved by Rygiel's insurance, Rygiel Driver's Log and road test successful completion)
- Clear Criminal Reference Check-Vulnerable Sector
- Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Rescuer and First Aid Certification
- Sur Lok training
- Proven intermediate/proficient computer skills
- Able to perform moderate to heavy lifting
Knowledge, Skills and Credentials:
- Training on driving Rygiel vans, including accessible vans
- Good listening/communication and reporting skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple demands
Language Skills:
- Demonstrated oral and written English skills, appropriate to the requirements of the position
- French language skills considered an asset
Personal Qualities:
- Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills within a team
- Ability to plan, implement, organize, make decisions, problem solve and complete tasks independently
- Willing to learn new skills and adapt to any situation
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate creativity
Availability:
- Various shifts including 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, & weekends
- Possible rotation of on-call emergency services
- Willingness to be flexible to adjust schedule
Location:
- Includes all Rygiel homes and administration office
