Reporting to the Controller for Kartoon Studios Inc., the Accounting Manager will be based in Vancouver and will support the Finance Department and its various deliverables by performing accounting and oversight functions.
In this role you will:
- Review financial reports and supporting schedules coming from all subsidiary entities.
- Track and record changes to daily bank balances.
- Record changes to investment accounts.
- Preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Assist in the development and documentation of internal controls.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process ensuring all tasks are completed timely.
- Review and approve daily A/P and A/R postings.
- Review and approve accounting entries coming from some of the subsidiary entities.
- Assist the Controller in the closing process, including but not limited to:
- Maintain the fixed assets and intangible assets sub-ledger
- Perform key account reconciliations and analysis
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Right of Use Lease amortization entries
- Revenue Recognition
- Quarterly variance analysis
- Consolidation of Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements
- Provide support for quarterly audits.
- Provide guidance and leadership to Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable staff.
- Provide support to the Controller on special projects as assigned, including accounting/taxation/budgeting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent knowledge of Basic Accounting Principals, IFRS, US GAAP
- Ability to prepare pro-forma financial statements of small companies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Sumif).
- Strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to research and report on relevant issues and/or changes.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to analyze problems and provide decisive solutions.
- Develops new initiatives and workflows to improve processes
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff, including conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback and guidance
- Experience in multi-currency and multi-entity accounting environment preferred.
- Experience using Intacct accounting software and reports is preferred.
- Experience in the entertainment or animation industry is an asset.
Education/Experience:
- Degree or Diploma with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in an accounting or finance position.
