Journey Person Wage Rate: $46.14/hour
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

Point Hope Maritime (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Journey Person Welder in Victoria, British Columbia.

Responsibilities:
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Weld quality must pass visual, magnetic particle, ultrasonic & X-ray inspection methods
- Safely operate power tools such as angle grinders, band saws, friction saws & belt sanders
- Other duties within scope of the position, as assigned
Education and Experience
- Must hold a Journeyman's certificate, or have Red Seal in welding
- Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
- Ability to communicate, read, and understand/follow directions in English
- Willingness to participate in regular training programs and courses
Knowledge and Skills
- W.B. Welding Certification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to set goals and manage multiple projects and initiatives
- Ability to set, commit to and meet deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing business needs

- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Be able to weld in multiple processes (SMAW, FCAW/MCAW, GMAW & GTAW)
- Be able to perform CAC (Carbon Arc Cutting (gouging))
- Understand the basic premises of distortion control & weld sequencing.
- Understand the need / requirement for the pre-heating & post heating of weld joints
- Understand how to measure and interpret drawing in both standards of measurements (imperial & metric)
Requirements:
- Must be able to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical & overhead)
- Must be able to stand, crouch, kneel and/or sit for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders and work from elevation, and walk on varied terrain
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to work within confined spaces
- Possess manual dexterity
Work Conditions
- Travel to off-site locations may be required
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.
- Overtime as required
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
