Position
Mangrove is seeking an exceptional individual to play a key and unique role in first deploying and then maintaining our first commercial plant in Delta, BC. In this position, you will first participate in the plant buildout and then transition to build and lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the execution of plant & facilities maintenance and upgrades while reporting to the Plant Manager. You will ensure that all equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure are in optimal working condition to support uninterrupted operations. Your role will involve planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules, managing a team of maintenance technicians, and coordinating with other departments to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards.
This role will require onsite presence during regular business hours at our Delta, BC facility.
Key Responsibilities
- During initial construction, direct site construction activities, monitor progress and resolve/escalate issues as they arise with the project team.
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment and facilities.
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize productivity.
- Coordinate with production and engineering departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and address equipment issues promptly.
- Monitor and control maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
- Evaluate equipment performance and reliability, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized maintenance projects.
Qualifications and experience
- Degree or Diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a Red Seal certificate in a trade related to industrial facility maintenance.
- Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role within an industrial setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing maintenance team.
- Proficiency in maintenance planning and scheduling software/tools.
- Sound understanding of safety and environmental regulations relevant to plant operations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend work to address emergency situations.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
