Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Injection Mold Tooling Technician at our 591 Arvin location.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Mold Maintenance Supervisor. Maintain and PM all exitsting injection molds, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs associated with injection molds. Be familiar with and practice and promote all aspects of the ISO9001:2015 and IATF 16949 Quality System and Health & Safety policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep maintenance of molds and parts in production
  • Maintain, repair and upgrade all existing injection molds.
  • Manufacture and fit parts for molds, injection machinery and miscellaneous jobs, dictated through work orders. Also, do machine mold repairs.
  • Maintain and repair Tool Room equipment where applicable.
  • Make assessments on mold repairs on any requirements associated with the repairs.
  • Maintain effective communication with Production regarding condition of molds and state of parts being produced.
  • Prepare molds for shipments for repair (i.e., welding)
  • Responsible for Preventative Maintenance program of molds and proper scheduling including proper record keeping using Megamation (Preventative Maintenance software)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in reviews of new injection molds including design, mold flows, gating.
  • Assist with external tryouts, qualifying molds prior to internal trials.
  • Change mold inserts as required to meet delivery requirements.
  • Hand work on molds: Open vents, polish blemishes, deburr, minor tuning adjustments.
  • Dis-assemble and re-assemble molds as required to ensure proper lube and cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mold electrical wiring, adjust limit switches, repair/replace heaters and thermocouples in manifolds.
  • Flush water lines to ensure proper cooling.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, repair leaks, replace seals.
  • Follow up on molds out for repair.
  • Investigate and recommend improvements to tooling requirements for new and existing programs.
  • Ensure adequate spare parts are on sight.
  • Able to complete the crane certification.
  • Operate a 40 ton crane, to: lift, move, flip, split the molds, required to work on molds.
  • Perform Mold changes from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 and trade school or equivalent
  • Mold maker, Tool & Die, Industrial Millwright or equivalent training
  • Injection Mold repair skills
  • 1-5 years Industrial Tooling Maintenance experience
