Position: Data I/O Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data IO division of Company3 Post Production is responsible for the secure management of client's digital assets.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Data I/O Technician will be responsible for archiving production data on a daily basis to LTO data cartridges. They will create detailed manifests for all created media, process file deliveries from a variety of online sources including Aspera and other transfer protocols, and process sensitive material efficiently and error free. They will be moving & copying production files to and from the SAN, and be responsible for media preparation, formatting, and loading of data to various formats. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data I/O Technician will be responsible for archiving production data on a daily basis to LTO data cartridges. They will create detailed manifests for all created media, process file deliveries from a variety of online sources including Aspera and other transfer protocols, and process sensitive material efficiently and error free. They will be moving & copying production files to and from the SAN, and be responsible for media preparation, formatting, and loading of data to various formats. They will also be responsible for the following:
- File zipping/unzipping and conversions as required for each department.
- Maintaining and tracking of physical and electronic media assets.
- Handle & offload raw camera, sound media cards and hard drives arriving from set.
- Complete file verification for files using supplied checksums.
- Assisting and/or leading movement of data throughout the Post Production pipeline.
- SAN Management/Maintenance and Monitoring of usable disk space.
- Coordinate with other Company 3 locations and outside providers regarding data deliveries.
- Assist in creating and maintaining databases/spreadsheets and directory structures for ongoing client projects.
- Database/Spreadsheet data entry as required.
- Communicate questions and information via e-mail/Slack/Teams on a regular basis.
- Uphold strict data security protocols in accordance with company and client policies and industry best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of file and data formats. They will have strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and with a team, with a positive attitude. They will also have strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage large workloads. Additional desired skills include:
- A background working with LTO archival tape is preferred.
- Experience in Film and Television post production environment would be an asset.
- Experience with YoYotta & Atempo LTO archival software would be beneficial.
- Very good communication skills both oral and written.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems including command line would be an asset.
- Experience with Slack and MS Office required.
- Rotating shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends may be required from time to time for vacation coverage.
