Liftsafe Engineering and Service Group Inc., a member of the Liftsafe Group of Companies, specializes in a variety of different areas including inspections, service, engineering and fabrication; we supply overhead cranes, jib cranes and other industrial material handling equipment to our large customer base throughout Ontario.
Job purpose
The purpose of this role is to fulfill a skilled labour position within the service and installation department which will meet the supply and demand of Liftsafe Engineering and Service Group Inc. As outlined in this job description, the expectation is for the duties, responsibilities and qualifications to be efficiently performed and for this individual to contribute to the overall growth of the company.
Duties and responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the journeyperson include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Inspect industrial equipment, including overhead industrial cranes and hoists to ensure safety and compliance with Mfg, OSHA and CSA standards under the supervision of a certified crane and hoist technician
- Lead and complete jobs other than those requiring a certified crane and hoist technician – installation of other material handling equipment, service calls for repairs, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment (strong knowledge of motors)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities
- Provides customer service by acting as liaison between customer and office
- Repairs equipment as required
- Builds and maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting methods and techniques for improvement
- Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist
- Builds and maintains customer confidence by maintaining a good response time, informing customer of problems, and completing the job in a timely manner
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Either 433A, 309A or 442A certificate of qualification or any combination thereof; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data
- Ability to work in elevated areas – working at heights proof of completion required
- Ability to use hand tools and trade type tools
- Ability to identify and resolve electrical problems and operational malfunctions.
- Ability to operate a forklift and Manlift equipment.
- Ability to mitigate additional damage by working with a high degree of precision and control
- Strong working knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures
- Ability to accurately document service and installation activities
- Current Valid Driver's License with clear status
Working conditions
Working conditions include:
- Warehouse and industrial/manufacturing environment
- Frequent noise
- Airborne particles (including, but not limited to) dust, debris, flame
- Sharp objects and debris
- Varying temperature changes
- Bright light/ flame
- Fast-paced shop environment, with frequent movement of materials and machinery
Physical requirements
Physical requirements of this role include:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Frequent and repetitive movement
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely operate power tools – air and electrical powered
