Opportunity for Impact

Tucows is the largest wholesale domain registrar globally. Our domain name registration and management services enable individuals and businesses to register and manage their online presence. Tucows has built its business on a set of robust and reliable platforms and services that have scaled to help their global distribution partners run successful businesses. We have over 35,000 resellers across 200+ countries including Shopify, Wix, and Squarespace.

We are now seeking a world-class Business Operations Leader to serve as Chief of Staff, orchestrating collaboration across multiple teams to develop a cohesive business plan to accelerate the growth of its new cloud based hosting and billing solutions built upon its next generation platform and core domain business.

Role and Responsibilities

The Chief of Staff will report directly to the CEO of Tucows Domains, David Woroch, and will serve as a key member of the Domain's executive team. They will be responsible for pulling all aspects of the business together toward a common business strategy, designing and coordinating seamless execution without administrative overhead, and pushing the business to aggressively expand its footprint. In this role, the Chief of Staff will:

  • Serves as an aide to the CEO and other senior executives in regard to facilitating effective decision-making on complex, broad scenarios that will have a major effect or significant change on the organization.
  • Build an innovative and forward-looking operating plan for the business that takes into account perspectives and departmental roadmaps at the intersection of our product and go-to-market teams.
  • Expertly align operational processes with strategic goals and objectives to ensure teams and departments can deliver their best work.
  • Align product, marketing, sales, and other teams visions for success into a common business view that drives the business forward.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Tucows competitive landscape and the ways in which the business's unique approach and business model can continue to innovate and grow.
  • Work to deploy new technologies and approaches quickly and create agile ways of working that ensure that the business remains cutting edge and metric driven, while aligned to current and future customer needs.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the C-Suite to evaluate organizational barriers to success and develops courses of action to overcome such issues.
  • Identifies organizational strengths and weaknesses, and pursues opportunities meant to position the organization favorably over the longer term.

Functional Competencies – Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • A strategic business leader with a proven track record of working with product, marketing and other executive stakeholders leveraging modern business thinking and commercial acumen.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cloud, SaaS, and machine learning-first product practices ideally as it pertains to the hosting space.
  • Experience creating forward-looking business strategies that take into account expertise and perspectives from across the business.
  • Track record of successfully aligning the business through partnerships across the executive team.
  • Skilled at operating in a relatively flat, cross-functional organization full of collaboration across many different disciplines.
  • Experience at navigating differing perspectives and incorporating them into a common vision for the future.

The base salary range for this position is $213,200 - 236,900 USD for US residents OR $229,600 - $255,100 CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
