Position: Housekeeping Attendant (Part-Time)
Facility: Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
Job Purpose: The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for all aspects of cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of the Aquarium to the highest standards.
Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.
Critical Accountabilities:
- Continuously walk through the guest areas ensuring the highest cleanliness standards are maintained at all-times. This includes keeping exterior acrylic of the exhibits free of fingerprints, streaks and smudges while maintaining its overall integrity.
- Emptying trashcans and sanitary receptacles as well as picking up trash inside and out.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping floors using various types of equipment (ride-on sweepers, bac-vacs, canister vacuums).
- Stripping and waxing hard floors as well as shampooing / extracting the carpet as required and scheduled.
- Cleaning and sanitizing washrooms and keeping consumables in these areas stocked.
- Ensuring the general upkeep of the external property in all seasons by providing snow and ice removal, mowing lawns, raking and weeding, shrub and tree pruning, watering lawns, and cleaning sidewalks.
- Following all safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines (MSDS), including wearing proper equipment (PPE) and encouraging staff to do the same.
- Dusting signs, walls, lights, etc.
- Cleaning both interior and exterior windows and mirrors.
- Request additional or corrective cleaning applications as required.
- Inform the Housekeeping Supervisor / Manager of unresolved problems or matters requiring attention.
- Ability to operate related equipment as required.
Special Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience in grounds keeping/housekeeping is an asset.
