Position SummaryThe Job Developer/ Employment Liaison is responsible for developing, building, and maintaining a wide network of employers to secure job shadowing and experiential learning opportunities (ELOs) for program participants. This role involves advocati for participants by showcasing their skills, prior professional experience, and educational background to employers, ultimately creating opportunities for participants to gain hands-on experience within their field in the Canadian labor market.
During the job shadowing and ELOs phase, the Job Developer/Employer Liaison supports employers by facilitating communication with participants and addressing any issues that may arise to ensure the sustainability of these opportunities.
They actively work on building strong relationships with Regina employers to promote newcomer immigrant hiring, assess employers' needs, and offer tailored solutions through effective job matching.
This position collaborates with other Job Developers and the Employment Services team to help immigrant clients achieve their employment goals. This includes connecting clients to job opportunities that align with their skills and experience, organizing and participating in various networking events, and participating in business community events to enhance the visibility of RODS Employment Services and its newcomer clients' pool.
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services discipline, Social Services, Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, or other related field
- Experience in recruitment, job coaching employment counseling
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with staff, clients, employers, and various stakeholders
- Solid working knowledge of labor market trends, available training, educational and employment opportunities, job competencies, employer requirements, and community resources
- Experience and sensitivity in working with newcomers to Canada, including those with limited English language skills
- Strong technological skills (Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, SMART Boards, Databases)
- Strong marketing, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
- Must be result-oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must have a valid Saskatchewan driver's license

- Builds and maintains professional relationships with employers to promote RODS Employment Services and generate job shadowing, ELO, and employment opportunities for clients
- Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advocate for clients and support their career development
- Collects, organizes, maintains, and shares relevant information on the process involved in securing ELOs or employment opportunities for clients
- Matches clients' skills and abilities with employers' needs; facilitating job shadowing, ELOs, workplace integration, job retention, and ongoing employment support
- Maintains positive employer connections through regular follow-ups, gathering feedback through employer satisfaction surveys to support program evaluation and improvement
- Works collaboratively and builds trust with a diverse range of stakeholders, including employers, clients, and team members to ensure program success
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the Career Bridging program to potential employers, identifying partners willing to offer career exploration opportunities and industry insights to program participants
- Develop a network of local employers across diverse industries to secure job shadowing, ELOs, and access to hidden job opportunities for clients and tap into the hidden job market to secure work placements for newcomer clients
- Serve as the main contact for employers, ensuring smooth communication, addressing issues and building lasting partnerships
- Advocate for clients by presenting their skills, experience, and education to employers, tailoring profiles to align with industry standards and employer needs for smooth integration into the Canadian workforce
- Work closely with other program team members to ensure the participants are prepared for ELOs through coaching and pre-placement orientation
- Perform and arrange mock interviews to assist clients in preparing for interviews
- Coordinate the placement process for job shadowing and experiential learning, ensuring alignment with both client goals and employer expectations
- Develop and update a database of employer contacts, placement details, and feedback to maintain program efficiency and continuous improvement
- Identify current needs/issues of employers and provide suggestions in coordination with the Employment Services team
- Serve as a job coach. Support and monitor clients' employment status, evaluate their progress, and provide feedback
- Arrange mentors for clients by connecting with professionals from various industries. Monitor and evaluate the process.
- Engage industry representatives in various contexts, including job fairs, information sessions, internal hiring events, worksite tours, and others.
- Attend trade shows, career fairs, community fairs, etc. in the city to build relationships with employers and other service providers
- Remain current on labor market trends, effective job search techniques skill requirements, and industry developments to align the program with evolving employer expectations.
- Design and develop promotional materials for the program advertisement as required
- Track participants' placements and outcomes, documenting successes, challenges and areas for improvement and submit regular reports
- Maintain and update employer and client database for reporting and study purposes
- Perform other position-related duties as needed
Salary Level/Classification
The classification for this position is Professional Category 1 at Step 1. The annual salary for this position starts at $52,854.94 ($30.12/hour). Pay periods are the end of the day on the 15th of the month and the end of each month.
Working Conditions and Application Instructions
The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid lunch break and an EDO every second week.
All RODS positions require a clean criminal record check. Upon successfully completing a six-month probationary period, employees receive a cost-shared benefits package and a 3% pension contribution.
