Vaughn Mills Packaging Ltd. (“VM Food Group”) manufactures and distributes oatmeal and other hot cereal products, servicing businesses of all sizes across North America. Here's what you will do as Purchasing and Supply Chain Coordinator
You will play a pivotal role in supporting logistics and procurement operations, ensuring an efficient and seamless flow of the VM Food Group product line. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating with the production team to plan and manage the intake of raw materials and forecast production output, aligning resources to meet shipment demands;
- Liaising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and packaging, maintaining supplier relationships for uninterrupted supply;
- Issuing purchase orders and tracking deliveries, verifying that materials arrive with all necessary documentation;
- Managing inventory levels of raw materials based on production needs, analyzing schedules and adjusting material availability to support production continuity;
- Communicating with cross-functional teams—including customer service, scheduling, operations, and vendors—to address and resolve issues related to delays, shortages, or job status;
- Assisting with daily inventory management, overseeing movement and tracking of inventory to ensure timely shipment of finished goods to customers;
- Conducting regular cycle counts and generating inventory reports for both production and procurement, maintaining optimal inventory levels and warehouse capacity.
- Preparing the warehouse team for upcoming requirements, coordinating inbound and outbound logistics for both onsite and third-party warehousing (3PL).
- Supporting the Logistics team by coordinating inbound and outbound shipments across North America, working closely with Canadian and U.S. 3PL warehouses and carriers.
- Undertaking special projects to contribute to the continuous improvement of VM Food Group's supply chain operations.
Here's what you'll need to be successful:
- Completion of college diploma in supply chain management or other relevant field;
- Minimum 3 years experience in Supply Chain (including warehouse / inventory management, procurement and logistics) within manufacturing industry. Experience in food manufacturing and/or Consumer Packaging preferred.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification an asset;
- Good understanding of procurement and supply chain, project management and manufacturing;
- Proficient in MS Office (including Excel) and MRP systems;
- Focused and detail-oriented with a high sense of ownership to see tasks and projects to completion;
- Problem solving skills with initiative to investigate, prioritize and resolve situations independently;
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, deadlines and changing priorities;
- A strong sense of urgency with the ability to work under pressure while coordinating multiple orders and tasks concurrently;
- Team oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
- Eager to learn new concepts and master new skills.
