What began in St Thomas, Ontario, as a residential construction company has grown to incorporate land planning and residential development. Hayhoe Homes remains a family-run operation that continues to grow.

We are hiring an Architectural Design Lead to join our team of professionals.

Reporting to the VP of Operations this individual will lead the design team and manage design projects and processes to ensure positive customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities include:

• Manage, lead, and mentor a team of Architectural Designers
• Provide feedback and performance management to the architectural design team
• Review completed drawings
• Direct the architectural design team in development of new house plans
• Lead and direct research and implementation of new architectural styles and building materials as required by the Sales team
• Develop, maintain, and track conformance of drawing and design standards
• Design and develop built forms new to Hayhoe Homes, including stacked townhouses, triplexes, etc
• Ensure compliance of residential designs to applicable codes, managing changes to building codes and addressing any code compliance issues

Preferred Qualifications:

• Diploma in Architectural Technology or similar degree
• 5 + years of experience in residential architectural design
• Knowledge of residential building techniques and Part 9 Ontario Building Code
• BCIN Certification in General Legal and House and/or Small Buildings
• People management skills with ability to support and motivate others
• Strong communication skills and presentation skills
• Experience working with land surveyors, structural engineers, HVAC and truss designers, etc
• Ability to manage all stages of projects and timelines
• Excellent relationship building skills
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit and Softplan (is an asset)
• Basic knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code (is an asset)

*This position requires working onsite with occasional field meetings with customers and vendors.
