The Insurance Council of British Columbia is the regulatory organization that licenses and regulates the activities of over 50,000 life and general insurance agents, general insurance salespersons, insurance adjusters, and restricted travel insurance agents in British Columbia.

The Opportunity

The Disclosure Supervisor is responsible for administrative duties and staff in support of the Professional Conduct Department. This includes leading a team which prepares and reviews materials that support the disciplinary process, freedom of information requests and other correspondence. The incumbent will also provide ongoing training and guidance to their team while working cooperatively with other team members to ensure the timely review of materials by decision makers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of the Professional Conduct Department's administrative professionals and ensures adequate resources are in place.
  • Assigns and guides disclosure, assembles responses to freedom of information requests, manages and completes other administrative work.
  • Reviews and presents disclosure, responses to freedom of information requests and other communications to the Insurance Council staff.
  • Maintains and ensures confidentiality and professionalism in all communications and documentation.
  • Prepares and oversees investigative report exhibit lists and disclosure packages related to disciplinary proceedings.
  • Review documents, reports, and correspondence for format, content, grammar, tone and spelling, making edits as necessary.
  • Prepares initial drafts of correspondence and reports.
  • Demonstrates and explains workplace practices to the team; oversees and monitors the work of consultants or students as required.
  • Oversees the movement of cases through disciplinary or licensing suitability processes.
  • Completes other tasks, as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of Administrative Support experience.
  • Minimum 1 years' supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Post-secondary education, such as a university degree in a related field
  • Excellent computer, word processing, and data entry skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong skills with Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Confidence to lead and guide a team.
  • Ability to coach and mentor
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and judgment skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Salary Range: $72,385 - $104,053 with a midpoint of $90,481 per annum.
Upon hire, new employees will be placed in a starting salary between the minimum and P50 (midpoint) of the salary range. The P50 of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position.
