Role Summary

We are looking for a People & Culture (P&C) Generalist with a passion for people, systems and processes to join our Company! You will be an integral member of the team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager, P&C, and supporting the VP (and future Talent Acquisition Lead) to achieve strategic initiatives, department objectives and successfully meet the day-to-day P&C needs of the organization. As the Generalist, you will support the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding, and everything in between, while working in an evolving & fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

Employee Lifecycle:

  • Provide comprehensive support throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, job changes, leaves, and offboarding
  • Provide timely and accurate advice on general HR inquiries including policies, processes, systems, benefits, payroll, vacation, etc.
  • Manage and document all paid and unpaid time off programs, including maternity/parental leave, supporting employees and-leaders through to return to work, offering guidance on accommodation and regular check ins with all parties involved
  • Conduct and document exit interviews and support the administration of employee offboarding
  • Assist with recruitment tasks as required
  • Other duties as assigned

HRIS and Data Management:

  • Own and keep updated documentation of employee records reflecting the employee's lifecycle (from hiring to exit) in the organization, using the applicable platforms
  • Lead initiatives to build, roll out and maintain the Company's HRIS (BambooHR), including new and existing modules and the various capabilities within it
  • Generate insightful reports, create metrics dashboards, and analyze the associated data to drive decision making
  • Support and train people leaders and employees with BambooHR navigation and processes
  • Uphold the highest standards of data privacy, security and confidentiality

Program, Process and Policy Implementation

  • Proactively identify opportunities for HR process improvements to streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and consistency, and collaborate with the broader P&C team to implement innovative solutions that enhance employee experiences
  • Review, enhance, draft, and develop relevant HR programs, policies, and procedures in line with the current and future needs of the organization, and in compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Ensure HR practices are inclusive and consider the diversity of the workforce in terms of hiring, promotions, team building, and more
  • Prepare and distribute HR-related communications, such as policy updates, company news, and employee announcements
  • Communicate and enforce policies consistently across the organization
  • Keep up-to date with legislative changes and employment best practices

Health and Safety Programs

  • Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of health and safety programs for both manufacturing and office environments
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Investigate and document workplace incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed

Qualifications/Skills

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist role required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and knowledge of HR-related legislation, including the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), etc.

  • Organized, with strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple initiatives and deadlines while meeting service level agreements
  • Strong relationship management, effective listening, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills across all levels with commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills while mitigating risk to the organization
  • Knowledge of employee data administration and end-to-end processes; experience with transaction processing and data management
  • Adaptable and ability to work in a new and changing environment and learn quickly
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Familiarity with HR analytics and reporting tools
