We are currently growing and seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and results-driven individual to join our Installations team as an Apprentice/General Helper. This entry-level position offers a fast-paced and challenging work environment and is ideal for someone looking to gain experience and kick-start their career in the security industry. General Role Description:
The Apprentice/General Helper will be primarily responsible for assisting the Lead Technician completing all general labour type work as assigned. This individual will be mentored by the Lead Technician on how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot security devices for residential and commercial sites. They will learn to understand and follow installation blueprints and plans from the Installation team.
We expect all members of our Installation team to represent New Age Group in a professional manner in line with our Installer handbook. Though based in Concord, you will be required to accompany the Lead Technician to job sites throughout the region. The Apprentice/General Helper will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time and must be capable of lifting equipment and materials up to 50 pounds as well as assemble scaffolding.

New Age Group is a well-recognized company in the security industry and to protect the safety of our clients, the successful candidate will be required to provide a clean Criminal Background and Judicial Matters Check for the past 5 years from Canada upon hiring. At this time, we will not be accepting applications from outside of Ontario.

- Assist with general labour type work assigned by the Lead Technician/ISM.
- Learn to follow drawings and complete installations of all ELV components.
- Learn to run and terminate wires in accordance with manufacturer specifications, New Age & industry standards.
- Learn to install and configure security equipment, including and not limited to alarm, surveillance, and access control in accordance with manufacturer specifications, New Age & industry standards.
- Learn to terminate, mount, and position devices at optimal locations as per drawings following manufacturer specifications.
- Learn to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues or malfunctions with installed security systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company Health & Safety policies.
- Complete and follow all tasks listed on the work order and/or task list accordingly as per the direction of the Lead Technician.
- Learn to complete all structured cabling types of work.
- Daily vehicle inspections must be completed and submitted.
- Assist in keeping the warehouse area tidy and organized including storage of all equipment/supplies.
- Complete all pertinent paperwork accurately at the end of each job, including work order and installers sheet.
- Complete daily report to Team Lead of lesson learned.
- All photos taken must be sent to One Drive before leaving the site.
- Weekly timesheet is submitted on time to accounting.
Work and Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma; post-secondary education in electronics (technician) or technologist.
- Electronics Engineering Technician Certificate or Related Technical School Diploma (preferred).
- Previous experience in an apprentice role.
- Effective communication skills (verbal/listening/writing) with clients and team members.
- Has the ability to use power tools with appropriate training for powered equipment (lifts).
- Able to lift cameras, wall boxes, and typical equipment associated with the security industry.
- Able to work at heights on a lift or scaffold etc. (with proper Lift training and training in fall prevention, etc.)
- Specific knowledge of the following types of systems would be beneficial: DSC, ICT, Axis, HIK, and entry systems, Network components - jacks, patch panels, switches, routers, hubs, etc.)
- Possess a valid Ontario Driver's License (G level) with a clean driving history
