Job Title: People and Culture Intern

Reporting directly to Skeena's VP, People and Culture, the P&C Intern will play a role in assisting Skeena's People and Culture team with the day-to-day operations of the department and support various HR functions, such as recruitment, onboarding, projects and system needs. The role will work closely with all departments and managers to help create a positive team and workplace culture.

Role Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding:

· Support the HR team in preparing for recruitment campaigns, conferences, job fairs, and community events to promote Skeena Resources and expand our reach to qualified candidates.

· Coordinate activities to increase sourcing opportunities through outreach, social media, partnerships, and community relationships.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking system (ATS), UKG.

· Update, organize, and post existing and new job descriptions.

· Assist with the creation, editing, and posting of job descriptions.

· Post new roles to Skeena's career page and partner recruitment websites.

· Sources candidates, set up and conduct screening calls, interviews, background checks, and reference checks.

· Arrange interviews with candidates and coordinate meeting room bookings.

· Complete reference checks, background checks, and pre-employment verifications for candidates.

· Ensure the best candidate experience for all applicants.

· Collaborate with the People and Culture team to support hiring and onboarding activities.

· Support the HR Coordinator with new hire setup and employee first-day requirements.

· Support onboarding activities: prepare new hire documentation and assist with orientation.

Administration and Projects

· Provide general administrative and data entry support to the People and Culture team as required, including filing, data entry, and report preparation.

· Maintain employee records and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality.

· Update and maintain HR documents on SharePoint.

· Conduct research on HR initiatives and project plans.

· Improve processes by streamlining administrative requirements.

· Assist with reports and collecting HR metrics.

· Support internal workflows between the HR, Payroll, and Camp Admin team at the mine site to improve the employee experience.

· Assist in developing training materials and resources for employee development.

· Schedule and coordinate training sessions for employees and managers.

· Participate in the Vancouver Office Joint Health and Safety Committee.

· Support initiatives aimed at fostering a positive workplace culture at Skeena.

· Participate in First Nations partnership meetings and support reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

· Currently enrolled in a recognized or accredited post-secondary institution, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

· Detail-oriented with excellent attention to detail.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.

· Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.

· Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.

Work Conditions:

This is an office-based job, in Skeena's Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. The fixed-term contract for this Internship will run from January through April 2025. Some flexibility in work location may be considered occasionally.
