Position Overview: The Manager, Event and Match Presentation at Vancouver Whitecaps FC is responsible for developing, managing, and executing world-class match day presentations for home matches and related events. This role centers on delivering a seamless, innovative, and engaging fan experience that aligns with the club's mission, vision, and values. The Manager will lead all match-day production and in-stadium activations, working closely with various departments to ensure a superior event experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Match Presentation & Event Production:
- Lead the conception, development, and execution of the club's match experience strategy for home matches and ancillary events, including media day and season launch.
- Serve as the primary match producer, ensuring flawless execution of all entertainment elements, including video boards, audio, music, pyro, and special lighting.
- Oversee compliance with MLS and club policies in all aspects of event production, including script development, talent bookings, in-stadium promotions, and music programming.
- Direct and cue match announcements, music, graphics, and videos.
- Review and manage controversial play decisions according to league and club guidelines.
- Collaboration & Innovation:
- Collaborate with club departments to enhance the overall match-day experience and partner activations.
- Work with Marketing, Design, Partnerships, Community and Fan Experience teams on planning and execution.
- Manage relationships with stadium and third-party vendors and oversee match presentation budgets and invoicing.
- Research and implement new technologies and social media integration to improve fan engagement and keep current with industry best practices.
- Leadership & Talent Management:
- Lead and coordinate match-day teams, including match presentation staff and volunteers.
- Provide guidance and conduct rehearsals for match-day talent to ensure smooth execution of ceremonies and entertainment.
- Oversee the execution of MLS Next Pro and L1BC presentation requirements, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Project Management & Planning:
- Develop detailed match day timelines and share them with relevant departments.
- Project manage in-stadium assets and video board productions with internal and external teams.
- Create and review plans for theme and celebration matches to deliver unique experiences for fans.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in event production.
- Experience managing or executing MLS or other professional sports game presentations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively and apply industry insights, drawing inspiration both within and outside the soccer world.
- Excellent time management and team leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to diverse tasks to achieve team goals.
- Flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
