Converting Supervisor

Key Accountabilities:
• Lead and supervise a team of unionized workers to optimize safety, product quality and productivity in Converting Operations
• Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with OHS standards; that workers are protected from any hazards and such hazards are identified and controlled; and workers use the prescribed safety equipment
• Maintain and enforce quality standards including food safety (GMP) and good housekeeping protocols; support operations in customer and third party audits
• Develop plans to ensure annual KPI objectives are achieved for safety, product quality, efficiencies and cost, providing direction and support to continuous improvement initiatives
• Coach and performance manage workers with emphasis on frequent communication, feedback and promoting a high level of teamwork and engagement
• Plan the effective and efficient scheduling of labour, equipment and material resources for Converting Operations
• Provide expertise and direction in the determination of equipment, parts and materials needed and coordinating preventative maintenance needs
• Foster strong relationships and communication with internal and externals departments and stakeholders
• Coach and enforce specific safety rules and behaviours ensuring timely and accurate reporting of accidents / incidents and proactive prevention measures
• Provide daily feedback to workers on performance and conduct performance reviews with direct reports
• Facilitate crew meetings to ensure current safety, quality and production related issues are considered and resolved
• Administration and application of the collective agreement and Company policies/procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education related to manufacturing engineering or business, or equivalent work experience mandatory
• 3 to 5 years Supervisory or operations leadership experience within a unionized manufacturing environment, (preferably corrugated industry), with experience in a fast-paced medium to a large size organization is preferred
• Strong leadership skills to lead a team of up to 40 unionized workers
• Experience working in a unionized environment, knowledge of Collective Agreement and effective performance management of workers
• Must work rotating shifts as per operational requirements
• Advanced working knowledge with MS Office Suite applications and systems is a must
• Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills are essential
• Ability to organize and prioritize essential tasks to achieve results
• Ability to collaborate well with all stakeholders and work well in a team environment
