ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Coordinator, Commercial Property Leasing with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team! The Coordinator, Commercial Property Leasing is responsible for coordinating and administrating all leasing, property management, and asset management aspects of commercial properties in the Fort McKay Industrial Parks. The incumbent will coordinate all commercial lease transactions and property management in an office environment with occasional site visits. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday, located in Fort McKay, AB.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The incumbent will coordinate all commercial lease transactions and property management in an office environment with occasional site visits. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday, located in Fort McKay, AB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate all matters related to leasing in the Fort McKay Industrial Parks, including tenant relations, lease document drafting and administration, land valuation and appraisals, mapping, surveys and website updates.
- Monitoring tenant compliance with lease/sublease terms and conditions, development permit requirements, FMFN laws and by-laws, and other applicable legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Lead the leasing/subleasing process for new leases, renewals, amendments, cancelations, etc.
- Coordinate new and existing licenses of occupation (LOC) and permits on Fort McKay First Nation Land, including amendments, rent reviews, updates, and negotiation of new LOCs/permits.
- Ensure timely rent/fee collection and escalate according to applicable agreements, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Register all instruments in the First Nation Land Registry System or a successor registry and manage data input into Fort McKay's lease tracking system (Buildium) or successor system.
- Visit sites and facilities.
- Elevate issues to management if required.
- Coordinate the maintenance and management of FMFN Industrial Parks and other FMFN commercial properties, including scheduling maintenance, upkeep, and repairs to common areas (including roads), ensuring signage is updated, and ensuring basic common services are provided (i.e., lighting, security cameras).
- Manage contracting process for service providers and contribute to the annual budgeting process for commercial properties, including asset management and replacement plans.
- Attend meetings as required and assigned, within and outside of the community.
- Contribute to briefing notes, requests for decisions, presentations, AGM/QGM reports, weekly/monthly reporting, update task tracking platform regularly
- Ensure documentation, correspondence, reports, etc. are appropriately saved and filed in the FMFN network drive or equivalent, following information management policies and procedures.
- Attend appropriate workshops, seminars, and training sessions as required to remain current and up to date on topics of concern to the First Nation relating to land management.
- Other related duties as required.
- Minimum two (2) years of post-secondary education (Diploma or certificate) or an equivalent program/combination of courses in land/resource management, business administration, paralegal studies, property/asset management, and/or real estate services.
- Completed coursework pertaining to property management and/or a professional designation as a Real Property Administrator (RPA) or a Certified Property Manager (CPM) will be considered an asset.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in lease coordination or planning is required, including a minimum of one (1) year of experience with land management on Indigenous reserves.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) and the ability to learn new software applications and platforms are essential to this position.
- Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
- Ability to speak, read and write Cree and/or Dene is considered an asset
- Clean Criminal Record Check is required
- Valid class 5 Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract required
