About Ray-Mont Logistics:

Ray-Mont Logistics is a dynamic organization focused on becoming the essential link in the international business logistics supply chain. We provide various operational logistics services such as loading, transportation and storage of surplus products.

Job Types: Full-time, dayshift and nightshift positions available

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (seasonal and depending on railcars/equipment available)

Working at bulk : Up to 5 days in a row, once a unit train is received in yard.

Working at Bagging: The shifts are 12 hours on rotation each week : week 1 is 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on & week 2 is 2 days off, 3 days on and 2 days off. Schedule on this position will have rotation between workers on the same position when needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Execute railcar moves according to supervisor's (or Operations Manager) instructions and according to the company SOP's.
  • Follow company safety policies, track safety policies and WorkSafeBC policies.
  • Perform daily inspection sheets.
  • Perform visual and safety inspections of the equipment.
  • Maintain the appearance of the equipment, proper air pressure, proper fluid levels, and performs minor repairs, as needed
  • Assist with coupling and de-coupling of rail cars and loading
  • Timely and correct switching and placement of rail cars.
  • Operation of hand or ground throw switches, derails, gates, etc.
  • Control movement of equipment by radio, hands, and lantern.
  • Apply and release hand brakes to secure or move equipment.
  • Handling air hoses, wheel chocks, coupling and uncoupling of rail cars.
  • Responsible to communicate well with local railroad while moving rail cars in the switch yard
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Good communication skills; Must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
  • Physically in shape: The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus
  • Ability to assess multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them in a timely manner.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow direction and procedures and work independently with flexible work habits, attitude, and adaptability *Good organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, time constraints and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Valid BC Driver's license and have their own method of transportation (can't rely on rides).
  • Clean record (attendance, and warnings)

*** Must clear pre-hire checks: background check (criminal and reference checks) and medical exam

*** Must have access to your own vehicle and a valid driver's license as the terminal is not accessible by public transportation.
