Junior (New Graduate) Electrical Designer (Infrastructure)
TWD Technologies Ltd. (TWD) is looking for a highly motivated and resourceful individual to be part of its Infrastructure team in delivering on street lighting and traffic signals designs. The role would be that of an Electrical Designer (Infrastructure), based out of our Burnaby, BC office. Prior experience would be great but not mandatory as the successful individual will be afforded the mentoring and guidance necessary for the individual to be successful in the role.

We have an opportunity for 2 Junior (New Graduate) Electrical Designer (Infrastructure) in our Burnaby, BC office. The position pays $60,000-$70,000k/yr.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical design and calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian and Industrial Standards such as TAC, IES, CEC, MMCD, and MUTCD, along with other project specifications for street lighting and transportation electrical systems.
  • Prepare detailed designs for electrical systems using AutoCAD under the guidance and direction of more senior staff.
  • Conduct field reconnaissance prior to design to confirm site information integrity and to identify any constructability concerns.
  • Prepare and review specifications, technical bid evaluations, procurement documentation and construction cost estimates.
  • Assist with the generation of additional engineering products that may include reports, technical memoranda, illumination studies, specifications, and other supporting documents.
  • Assist other engineers, technologists, designers and drafters in carrying out technical tasks.
  • Participate in peer reviews of drawings and other design deliverables.
  • Interact with customers and other team members regarding project requirements and progress updates.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or diploma in electrical design/engineering program.
  • Co-op experience in related field would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  • Familiarity with and/or understanding of street lighting and traffic signals design concepts would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with productivity tools including MS Office Suite, Revu Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with AGi32 would be a great asset.
  • Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes.
  • Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning would be an asset.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated and resourceful, eager to learn about street lighting and traffic signals design and concepts.
