About the Opportunity

Situated within UJA's Integrated Development Department, the Women's Philanthropy team engages community members to support UJA's mission through, educational programming and engagement opportunities.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Women's Philanthropy, the Specialist, Women's Philanthropy is an integral member of the Annual Campaign Team, building philanthropic relationships and managing a portfolio of donors, prospects and volunteers. The Specialist, Women's Philanthropy is responsible for cultivating new step up donors and stewardship. The successful candidate will focus on fundraising and engagement of donors and volunteers within Women's Philanthropy, for the enhancement of immediate and long-term fundraising results.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate and manage a portfolio of Lion of Judah Step up donors (women giving $1,800 or more annually).
  • Develop and implement a stewardship plan for Lion of Judah Step Up donors
  • Proactively identify new donor prospects and volunteers; participate in the development and execution of the cultivation strategies to engage these relationships
  • Manage the newly launched Lion cub program (a program designed for Bat Mitzvah aged girls)
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate and support on volunteer initiatives and events
  • Work with lay committees on various volunteer initiatives
  • Work closely with lay leaders who assist professionals in securing gifts
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of overall fundraising strategies and events to work toward meeting targets
  • Work with the professional fundraising team to produce a range of research information products and reports including research profiles
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, writing and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising including managing and forging relationships with volunteers and donors
  • Strong customer service-oriented approach complemented by excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to assimilate a broad range of information and articulate with passion and integrity
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community
  • Self-starter. The successful candidate will be able to take action without having to always be directed.
  • Diplomatic; great listener; and strategic thinker
  • Ability to make decisions independently

* This is a full-time permanent position, Union Level 4. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work. In addition to a rich time off policy, UJA's offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and we support early office closures to observe the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
