The Senior Process Engineer – Facilities will be responsible for providing process engineering expertise and oversight for all facility projects from the FEED stage through detailed engineering to start-up and commissioning.
Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead, the Senior Process Engineer – Facilities will be responsible for developing and optimizing process simulations, equipment selection, and sizing, generating PFDs, HMBs & P&IDs, sizing of control valves, PSVs, and flare system, developing process control documents such as control narrative and shutdown key (Cause & Effect) while collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure efficient and effective execution of technical requirementsKEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):PROCESS ENGINEERING (Weighting 50%)Process Design & Engineering

- Lead the process design and engineering activities for Facility projects.
- Develop block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, heat & material balances, and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Develop and optimize process simulations for greenfield projects and de-bottleneck and troubleshoot existing designs for brownfield projects.
- Sizing of all major equipment, piping, control valves, PSVs, and flare system.
- Developing control narratives and shutdown keys (Cause and effect).
- Participate in model reviews to ensure process requirements are met.
- Prepare specifications for buyout equipment and review/approve design drawings as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate BOP systems with the overall plant design.
- Perform system analyses and simulations to identify potential bottlenecks, optimize operations, and enhance system reliability.
- Identify and resolve process-related issues, collaborating with other engineering disciplines and/or the client to implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and analyze process performance data, identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Implement process monitoring systems and control strategies to ensure stable and reliable operations.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to process engineering teams involved in Facility projects.
- Review and approve process engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, supporting their professional development and enhancing their technical skills.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in BOP process design and engineering.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.
- Initiate and contribute to process improvement initiatives, sharing innovative ideas and implementing best practices.
- Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, schedules, and budgets for process engineering activities.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks or issues, and propose appropriate solutions or mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
- Engage with clients to understand their process requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients, conveying process design concepts and project progress.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing their concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Participate in technical meetings, presentations, and discussions with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage expectations, communicate project progress, and address project-related challenges.
- Lead Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and safety analyses to identify potential process hazards and risks.
- Collaborate with HAZOP participants to implement appropriate safeguards and mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, guidelines, and regulations throughout the process design and operation.
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards in process design and engineering.
- Review and approve vendor documentation, technical specifications, and equipment data sheets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in the process design and operation.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field (required).
- Proven experience (8+ years) in process design and engineering of gas processing facilities.
- Strong knowledge of process engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, water treatment, fuel handling, cooling, and heating; product storage, ventilation, and auxiliary systems.
- P. Eng. (APEGA) or Professional Licensee (Engineering).
- Good understanding of relevant industry codes & standards (ASME, API, CSA).
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., VMG, ProMax).
- Experience with process safety and risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, SIL) and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Experience with equipment sizing, control valve sizing & PSV sizing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to lead and mentor junior process engineers.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
