Job DescriptionAccountabilities:
- Provide excellent relationship management and engage in ongoing communication with internal stakeholders in information services, clinical areas and supporting services to ensure hospital-wide privacy awareness and identification and minimization of privacy-risks and foster cooperation, and with external stakeholders such as the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, other hospitals and community partners
- Acts as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and expertise in response to privacy related breaches and incidents and access requests
- Prepares privacy impact assessments in response to new projects or significant changes to existing programs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the current and coming access and privacy standards and practices affecting hospitals/health care
- Initiates, facilitates and promotes activities to foster privacy awareness within the hospital and related entities
- Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with the director of health information management, privacy and freedom of information (FOI), internal privacy oversight committees and legal counsel as required
- Handles all operational activities for FOI access requests, including; tracking requests, coordinating record searches; preparing notices to internal program areas, requesters and third parties prescribed under Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA); severing records and preparing indexes of records; fee calculations and draft decisions, collecting deposits and fees prescribed by FIPPA; and disclosing records
- Performs ongoing compliance monitoring activities such as auditing access to personal health information within internal and external health information management systems
- Develops, implements, and delivers privacy training, orientation, and on-going awareness campaigns to all employees, volunteers, medical and professional staff
- Provides operational support in receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on all complaints concerning the organization's privacy policies, procedures and practices
- Maintain current knowledge of Osler policies, procedures, relevant privacy or healthcare legislation, and advancements in information technologies to provide subject matter expertise where required
- Post secondary degree or equivalent experience
- Five to seven years experience in privacy, risk or equivalent role
- A CIPP/C designation or equivalent or a willingness to attain the certification within the first year of employment
- Working knowledge and expertise in the Personal Health Information Protection Act
- Working knowledge and expertise in FIPPA or the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- Background knowledge in information security practices and principles, and is able to effectively coordinate with technical staff to enhance privacy operations
- Experience in handling sensitive situations with discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality as required
- Strong business documentation, editing, proofreading and organizational skills is a requirement
- Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in information technology audits and coordination of privacy and/or security assessments an asset
- Experience in a customer service environment an asset
- Experience in processing FOI requests

Minimum: $ 85,839.00
Maximum: $107,308.50
