Job Purpose:

The Field Trainer takes a leadership role by delivering direct training and support to Outreach Support Mentors, ensuring that high standards of care and service are met for individuals within Simaril's Supported Independent Living/Outreach Department. The Field Trainer is responsible for coordinating services, completing follow-up tasks, and contributing to program planning. You'll collaborate with families, team members, and other stakeholders to uphold our commitment to quality care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General:

  • Maintain positive, professional, and effective communication at all times.
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with community members, families, and other professionals.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures concerning confidentiality and privacy when handling information about people supported, employees, and Simaril Inc.
  • Provide support for relief and replacement staffing, including Emergency On-Call duties as required.
  • Report any agency-related changes or significant issues to the Case Manager or Program Manager.

Direct Support (Program Support):

  • Engage in regular communication with people supported, employees, families, and external agencies to align on desired outcomes and care needs.
  • Advocate for individuals supported as needed and ensure that all support plans are effectively communicated and followed.
  • Identify service needs and communicate accordingly with Outreach Support Mentors, Case Workers, and Case Managers.
  • Actively participate in planning processes to identify areas for service growth and development.

Administration:

  • Maintain accurate and timely record-keeping, ensuring compliance with legislative and agency requirements.
  • Complete all documentation promptly, including contact notes, logs, incident reports, and training forms.
  • Attend and contribute to Leadership meetings as required.

Leadership & Training:

  • Provide training and ongoing feedback to new and current Outreach Support Mentors, setting high standards for care and service delivery.
  • Develop training programs based on organizational needs and support continuous professional development within the team.
  • Serve as a role model, exhibiting professional behavior and high standards of care at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of Direct Support Work experience, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in training or coaching is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Disability and Community Support Program (DCSP) or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word processing, email, and internet.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to provide basic employment documentation, including a current Criminal Record Check and Adult Abuse Registry check.
  • Current First Aid Certification (Level C).

Hours of Work and Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with hours reflecting the needs of assigned locations. Some overtime may be required to support needs outside of standard work hours, with paid compensation. The schedule for this role is Sunday through Thursday, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, with some flexibility as needed.
