Salary:

Metis Child, Family & Community Services (MCFCS) Agency is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and provide culturally relevant community-based child protection and support services for Metis and Inuit people in Manitoba. Metis Child, Family and Community Services and our entire Métis CFS System is evolving and shifting our practices to be ready for the exciting changes that will be coming as a result of the new Federal Act. We have launched and expanded on some very important initiatives that include welcoming family to be at the center of our practice where they participate in planning and decision-making as we walk alongside them on their healing journey.

The Metis Community Addiction Response Team Program (Metis CART) is a wraparound program that walks alongside parents who struggle with their relationship with substances and supports the family in ways that will allow their children to live with them safely.

Our Metis Connect Program has seen great success connecting children and youth to their extended families, community and culture as well as making it possible for parents to get the extra family/ community support they need to go home safely with their babies at birth and/or reunify safely with their children again. We believe in planning around the kitchen table rather than the boardroom table. This has also allowed our agency to expand its own Kinship Care program while meeting with families.

Come join our progressive agency to work alongside families with our All My Relations model of practice. We offer competitive wages, comprehensive pension and benefits, support continuing education, hybrid work environment to name a few reasons to come join our family.

Volunteer Driver Opportunity

The Agency is looking for Volunteer Drivers to assist with the delivery of children to family visits, therapy or other appointments. Under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator, the Volunteer Driver delivers the child(ren) to the appointed location and then is free to do errands, visiting, etc as they chose until the applicable pick up time is reached. If for some reason the visit or appointment is cancelled the Transportation Coordinator will connect with the Volunteer Driver to return for the child(ren) and transport them back to their original location.

As a Volunteer Driver you should be able to relate and communicate with children and adults in a respectful manner. You must have access to a reliable vehicle that has a back seat and the appropriate number of seat belts. Flexibility/adaptability is a strong asset in this opportunity to accommodate changing schedules.

For this Volunteer opportunity, Metis Child Family and Community Services will pay mileage for the kilometers driven from home and back and a $25 monthly reimbursement toward your cell phone. These funds are paid as non taxable reimbursements.

Currently the Agency is looking for Volunteer Drivers to transport within Winnipeg, Interlake, and Eastman areas.

As a Volunteer Driver you will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (if applying through the RCMP this fee will be waived), a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver's Abstract. In light of long processing times for these checks we encourage applicants to apply early, as this will reduce wait times to begin employment. A valid Manitoba driver's license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites.
