Construction Labourer – Kentville, NS

Kentville, NS Based

Reporting to the Lead Foreman or Site Superintendent, the Labourer would be responsible to perform various tasks to help with daily operations at the job site. Daily tasks may include assisting with building envelope installation, assisting with rough carpentry work including concrete formwork, loading and offloading of material, tools or equipment, ensuring overall cleanliness of the jobsite to ensure the workplace is clean and free of hazards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Required

  • Basic carpentry skills are considered an asset.
  • High school diploma.
  • Prior general laborer construction experience considered an asset.
  • Capable of lifting at least 50lbs.
  • Physically fit and able to work on your feet 8-10 hours per day. You need physical stamina that allows you lift, climb, stand, or bend for long periods of time.
  • Qualified and capable of operating construction machinery is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Willingness to travel.

Duties:

  • Follow directions and perform tasks as directed by Carpenter or Lead Foreman or Site Superintendent.
  • Responsible for keeping worksite, including all trailers, clean and safe. Ensure project sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards. At the end of each day ensure site is clean, tidy, tools and equipment stored and locked in appropriate sea cans.
  • Assist with window and door installation.
  • Assist with general rough carpentry work.
  • Assist with floor slab preparation, interior protective curb, erecting insulated metal wall and ceiling panels, install insulation, vapor barrier, and roof systems.
  • Assist with fitting and installing trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks.
  • Load and unload construction materials and move around the worksite.
  • Capable of operating small hand tools.
