O2E Brands is looking for a Paralegal to join our growing, tight-knit team! As part of the legal department, you will be responsible for corporate insurance policies and litigation administration. You will also have an opportunity to assist with the preparation of Canadian, US, and Australian Franchise Disclosure Documentation. As the nexus between legal and the rest of our business, you will help support our Franchise Partners in realizing their dream of small business ownership.
Starting January 2025, all team members in Vancouver and Toronto will be required to work in-office every other week, for three consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). To support business priorities, core hours of attendance will be mandatory from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on these days.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Attend to all insurance related matters, including renewals, and issuing COIs (with the support of our broker)
- Assist the Executive Vice President and General Counsel with general administrative work, including processing invoices, contract management, providing assistance to the Risk Management and Privacy Officer
- Attend to all litigation administration (with the support of our external counsel)
- Attend to trademark enforcement by drafting cease and desist letters.
- Responsible for electronic and traditional filings of the legal department.
- Assist with various projects of the legal department, and ability to communicate with franchise partners, external counsel and internal departments.
- Support in maintaining corporate records and various filings.-Supporting in franchising including documenting franchise sales, renewals and mapping.
- Interpret and draft various agreements, operations manuals, and other policies.
Support in enforcement of franchise rules including drafting and circulating notices of default.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Paralegal Diploma or Certification
- Litigation paralegal experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Organization and ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Tech-savvy and experience using Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to promptly respond to all inquiries.
- Willingness to learn about Canadian, US, and Australian franchise documentation and disclosure requirements
- US Franchise Paralegal experience a strong asset
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary $85k-90k per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity). The Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Dental.
