The Oshawa, ON (DNGS / PNGS) site is looking for a professional and skilled Welding Supervisor to join the team.


Summary of the Role:

The Welding Supervisor provides all aspects of welding Supervision to the Project Site, as required. Provides in-house welding expertise to the Company in regard to the application and interpretation of codes, processes and practices affecting welding, fabrication and quality assurance activities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the weld torch/gun exchange program
    • Repair and/or test, as required, MIG & TIG torches
  • Maintain welding machine lines & filters, cooling accessories
    • Test and maintain welding machinery and accessories for proper operation
    • Address welding program/machinery issues in a timely manner
  • Assign machines to projects, complete with tags/labels, per weld supervisor instructions
  • Assist with welder testing, qualification and welding practice / guidance as required
  • Maintain torch and welding consumables stock in lock-up area, ensure that they are stocked to appropriate levels at all times. Monitor stock quantities for ordering by Welding Supervisor
  • Review documentation and qualifications to ensure issuance of consumables and filler metals match quality / welding program expectations
  • Review weld tracking documentation to confirm up to date and accurate

Key Requirements, Experience, and Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of Welding and Q.A. Codes and Standards including ASME, CSA, ASTM, API and ANSI Standards and Codes
  • Certification to CSA W47.1/W59.1 an asset
  • Hands on welding experience in nuclear environment preferred. (Radiological & Conventional)
  • 5 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Direct involvement in a custom metal fabrication and Pressure Boundary piping environment
  • Experience in or knowledge of fabrication, field installation, radiography film interpretation and pre & post WHT and finishing
  • Weld mapping, filler metal control, and tracing
